Real-world history

Pensacola Beach sits on Santa Rosa Island. Casino Beach, the island's original resort site, is its busy hub, and the 1,471-foot Gulf Pier is often called the longest on the Gulf of Mexico. In March 2007 the crew filmed here to stand in for Panama.

Admission: Public beach. Reaching the island by the Bob Sikes Bridge involves a toll; check current rates.

Parking & accessibility: Large public lot at Casino Beach. It fills on summer weekends.

Best time to visit: Spring or autumn mornings, before the summer crowds.
