Real-world history

UNESCO walled town of Roman, Islamic, Gothic and Renaissance stone. House of the Dragon moved King's Landing here from Dubrovnik. Arco de la Estrella, Plaza de Santa María and the lanes off Plaza de San Jorge stand in for the capital's streets, gates and the approach to the Great Sept.

Game of Thrones used the same city briefly in Season 7.

Logistics & accessibility

Admission: Streets free. Concatedral de Santa María and some palaces ticketed. Evening floodlighting is the postcard look.

Parking & accessibility: No cars in the monumental core. Use Parking Plaza Mayor, El Palacio or Av. de España and walk in through Arco de la Estrella.

Best time to visit: April–June and September–October. Midday in July is harsh on pale stone. Arrive at opening for empty lanes.
