Real-world history

Built in 1884–85 to a design by Emanuele Luigi Galizia, replacing the older Del Monte Gate. It is the only one of Valletta's original city gates that still stands, and was restored in 2009–10.

Parking & accessibility: Paid spaces along the harbour road below the gate fill early.
