Real-world history

A French Baroque palace built in 1726 to 1728 for Grand Master António Manoel de Vilhena to a design by Charles François de Mondion. Later a hospital, it has housed Malta's National Museum of Natural History since 1973. Visit Malta lists its Baroque frontage and courtyard among the Gladiator II locations.

Admission: The building is a Heritage Malta museum with a paid ticket; check current opening hours. The facade and forecourt can be seen free from the square.

Parking & accessibility: Mdina is car-free for visitors; use the parking areas outside the walls in Rabat and walk in through the Main Gate.
