Real-world history

Undeveloped stretch of North Shore sand where the wreck of a retired Lockheed L-1011 was dressed as Oceanic 815 for the pilot, then one of the most expensive pilots ever made. The first beach camp stood here until winter surf pushed production to Papaʻiloa. No set pieces remain.

Logistics & accessibility

Admission: Public shoreline, free. Mokulēʻia Beach Park has portable toilets and picnic tables; the crash set was further west toward the end of the paved road.

Parking & accessibility: Free parking at Mokulēʻia Beach Park or roadside pull-offs where legal along Farrington Highway.

Best time to visit: Calm summer mornings. Winter brings big surf and strong undertow, and there is no lifeguard.
